Hi, I’m Aldona! I’m a PhD level researcher with a love for peoples’ history and scouring old documents. I first discovered a love for genealogy and archive research while I was researching folk singers in Virginia for my dissertation.

My family tree contains immigrants from China, Lithuania, Germany, and Ireland, by way of Michigan and Hawaii. Learning details about my ancestors’ lives makes me feel connected to them and their life’s journey.
I live in a historic mill in Madison County, VA, and I enjoy exploring old cemeteries and historic sites in my area. You can read about my research rabbit holes on my blog, or check out my Instagram page for vernacular graves.
