Kitty appears in the 1850 U.S. Federal Census in Fleming, KY, and the 1860 U.S. Federal Census for Platte, Missouri, as Kitty Rose. Her estimated birth year in the 1850 census is 1792, and her estimated birth year in the 1860 census is 1790.

Many users on Ancestry have conflated Kitty with Elizabeth Robinson (b. 1792, Garrard County, Kentucky – d. 18 Jan1882, Lancaster, Garrard, KY), the daughter of James Robinson, Sr (1761-1833) and Catherine (Augustus) Robinson (1761-1841) of Garrard County, Kentucky. However, several inconsistencies suggest that Kitty is not Elizabeth, namely (1) the James Robinson household living in Kentucky, not Fauquier, Virginia, and (2) Kitty being a common nickname for Catherine/Katherine, not Elizabeth.
